Sleep more and save power?

January 30, 2008

According to News24 our magnificent Minerals and Energy Minister Buyelwa Sonjica uttered the following nugget of absolute mental retardation: “Go to sleep earlier so that you can grow and be cleverer. Boil less water, use the microwave rather than stove, take a shower and not a shallow bath,”

This in response to the glooming energy crisis in South Africa. I wonder what we can expect from the Minister of Water Affairs in future: “Save water and take a bath with the neighbor’s daughter – or shower rather, it prevents Aids (alla Zuma).”

Bubble bubble carrot trouble

January 30, 2008
Carrots   While plodding through some random posts on Facebook I came upon this truly bizarre group of “e-terrorists”. In an evil plot to strike at the heart of all carrot eaters, bunnies, vegetarians, and other carrot lovers, this Facebook group plans to panic buy all carrots on May 15th in a true “global carrot rampage“.

Strange as this may sound, the growing group of “carroteers” plan to buy up all the carrots in the world on that day and cause a massive “carrotastrophy”. So if I were you I wouldn’t plan on making anything carrot related on that day.

My question is: What evil plans do they have with all the carrots they’ll end up with? I found a few ideas for the brave “carroteers” here at a site devoted to carrots. You may also want to check out the spin-off group who all want to hand out carrots on Facebook.

If you plan to join the dark league of “carrotists” you can just follow the link to the Facebook group. Happy carrot day!

Vote! Vote! Vote! And save your country!

January 22, 2008

So if you do have some time during Eskom and all their funny stuff with the power – it may just be a good idea to scamper off to the Monopoly website and vote to get at least one South African city in there (even if it is dark with no lights or traffic lights). Cape Town (as usual) is in there, but you can nominate a wild-card city aka Johannesburg to be your backup in case the Cape Town crowd have a fatal power failure.

To vote for your city, and only South African cities now, just scoot off to the following place: Monlpoly World Edition
