AppleCoreLLC is probably the best thing I’ve found for my AppleTV since I got the thing. It allows you to stream from your Apple Time Machine, and even stream your DVD’s from your PC through your AppleTV. Be warned though that it is not entirely compatible with the new 2.1 software, but you can join the Beta programme and it works fine for me so far.
The great thing is that there is no way you can break your AppleTV in any way – you can always “factory reset”. You need a Mac to make the patch stick, and a USB drive to put the patch on.

Continuing on my earlier post about “e-Tree falling on Gwenlane, I just read this interesting article on Marketingweb called “Qwelane: Soapbox journalism?“.
Something our good friend Jon Gwenlane should remember is that virtual soap boxes don’t cost anything, and with thing like Facebook it only takes a few hours for a small thing to become common knowledge. The e-Tree did fall on you Jon. Good luck!

I never realised the power of the Internet as a political tool until this whole Jon Qwelane gay bashing incident. It is amazing how within a few days an entire community gathered together on-line against a common foe. Through Facebook a group sprang up to gather the armies and discuss the way forward. Blogs heated up as people posted their views on his article from all walks of life. E-mail campaigns started up to not only the Sunday Sun (that ran the piece), but also to the Human Rights Commission, Press Ombudsman, advertisers, shareholders, and other media.
In the olden days someone would get it if a tree falls on him – but in Jon’s case I think it is more of an e-tree. This time he picked the wrong target.
If you want to get involved in the e-tree then here is a list of links you can use to follow the story:

| At last someone did it! According to News24 a new site called stopsms.co.za will be opening in the next few weeks where you can name and shame persistent SMS spamming companies. The site will be similar to the well known HelloPeter.com where you can list your grievance and get the offending company to respond. Last year the government passed new legislation that outlined a whole set of guidelines that SMS companies have to follow in order to protect the public against SMS spamming. Definitely a good thing! |

| While plodding through some random posts on Facebook I came upon this truly bizarre group of “e-terrorists”. In an evil plot to strike at the heart of all carrot eaters, bunnies, vegetarians, and other carrot lovers, this Facebook group plans to panic buy all carrots on May 15th in a true “global carrot rampage“. |
Strange as this may sound, the growing group of “carroteers” plan to buy up all the carrots in the world on that day and cause a massive “carrotastrophy”. So if I were you I wouldn’t plan on making anything carrot related on that day.
My question is: What evil plans do they have with all the carrots they’ll end up with? I found a few ideas for the brave “carroteers” here at a site devoted to carrots. You may also want to check out the spin-off group who all want to hand out carrots on Facebook.
If you plan to join the dark league of “carrotists” you can just follow the link to the Facebook group. Happy carrot day!

So if you do have some time during Eskom and all their funny stuff with the power – it may just be a good idea to scamper off to the Monopoly website and vote to get at least one South African city in there (even if it is dark with no lights or traffic lights). Cape Town (as usual) is in there, but you can nominate a wild-card city aka Johannesburg to be your backup in case the Cape Town crowd have a fatal power failure.
To vote for your city, and only South African cities now, just scoot off to the following place: Monlpoly World Edition
